The Flavor for Day 3 is a sweet potato "yam" ice cream base with chopped candied pecans and toasted maple meringue fluff.
About the Flavor
If you've been around for a little while, you'll recognize this flavor! "Candied Yams" or, more accurately, sweet potatoes, are a North Carolina staple and a staple of every holiday meal in our family. To achieve the flavor, we roast sweet potatoes with a brown sugar and cinnamon mixture and add them as a puree to our ice cream base. We add our own candied pecans to the mix and top each pint with a generous layer of maple marshmallow fluff, which we toast.
